5 Tips to Help You Succeed at the Paleo Diet

Are You Eating Like a Caveman?
Here are 5 tips to help those of you who are already eating Paleo succeed. I have found them paramount to making my life easier. If you are interested in the Paleo Diet, also known as the Caveman Diet, but need to learn more, then check out the links I posted below. You can find an explanation of this lifestyle of eating habits there. This post is for those already travelling down the Paleo Road.
1, Simplify your cupboards
The Paleo Diet is an anti-diet. There are no specific brands or products to purchase. There are brands and products not to purchase. It's pretty easy, actually. Just pretend your a big Grizzly Bear and eat that (nuts, berries, meat and veggies). However, sticking to it is almost impossible if everything you used to eat is only shoved to the back of the cupboard. If junk food is there, it is only a matter of time until it is consumed. A part of the cleansing process is your kitchen - start there and your body will follow!
2. Plan Ahead
You'll find an extra source of resolve during the week if before the beginning of each week you write down what you're going to eat. Maybe your mom used to make a meal plan and a grocery list at the start of each week. It's like that. A lack of preparedness drives us to the drive-thru. Don't wait until the end of a long, hard day to plan your meal.
3. Cook extra
Throw extra steak, fillets or breasts on the BBQ on Sunday evening for the following week. Find a Paleo meal that you absolutely love? Double or triple it so that you have an ready-meal for a busy weeknight or a great lunch to look forward to at work. The idea is simply to cook extra portions of the great Paleo meals that generally take more prep and cook time.
4. Snack attack
Try to always have a good, wholesome snack readily available wherever you're at. Your plans may change and you may need something to tide you over. This is the best way to experience success on the road traveling when fast food and Starbucks' pastries call your name. And, unlike the Whopper or scone, some fruit, cashews or almonds will keep you lean, fueled and feeling great!
5. Network
The internet, a good Paleo Diet book, a fellow Caveman or Cavewoman, and/or your gym provide a network of support and resource to help you establish and flourish in this lifestyle. Don't go it alone unless you have a repeated history of going against the grain successfully (we all like to think we do, but assess yourself seriously). And, it's more fun to experience and share results with others traveling with you. Share recipes, have Paleo parties, even share cooking. All this to help in unlearning the years of thoughtless, harmful consumption and create new habits and a new you!
As an example, I lost seven pounds of body fat in my first 3 weeks of the Paleo Diet. Not water weight, not a crash by starvation or by unhealthy methods like lemon juice and cayenne pepper water! I have never regained this weight and I've never felt better. If you're eating like a Caveman or woman I'm sure you agree. I hope this helps you reach your goals and live a wholesome, healthy, simple life and experience the fruits of discipline! And look good naked!

Very nice, William. Definitely let us know how your race goes. Maybe you can post another article about the other steps you're taking to prepare?
I keep coming back to this hub for tips. Great work, Will!
These are excellent tips- As a follower of the diet, I know it can be challenging, but I've had awesome benefits and they definitely outweigh the difficulty of the diet.
Nice tips. Preparing for future meals is easily the most important tip. Sometimes we cook 3-4 days of veggies and meat and just dish up, heat up, and eat up :) Makes it a lot easier when you need to quickly eat and then get back to work! Leftovers are also awesome for breakfast!

Good tips, Will Blake. While I've never tried the Paleo diet, I've been fascinated by what I've read about it - it makes so much sense.
